Kent's Korner

By Kent Durbin, President
TSM Services, Inc.

Does time pass or what? We are running fairly steady here in the Catlin office being able to complete each day's work. This will end soon. Our yields are great with our research farm soybeans in the 70's. We had a few plots yield over the 80 bushels per acre mark.

The farmer (Clifford Huddleson) who did all of our harvesting on the research plots will be retiring after this fall. I cannot tell how much this man has meant to us. Much of the land he is giving up has to continue to be in the TSM® program stipulated by the landlords. This gives you a nice feeling and makes all the hard work worth it.

The chicken manure-processing project is coming along fine. We are presently working on the right physical form to make the pellets so it mixes with fertilizer without separation. When this project gets going and people can see how to handle this excess chicken manure properly, there will be other projects starting up. The main problem is that others have tried to process the manure but had only the organic farming community to sell it to. They have all they want so what do you do with the rest of it? The key is you, the fertilizer dealer, who can sell this product as fertilizer and make good money. You are the hero of our story. By the way, if you have many large chicken houses in your market area, give me the names of the company and the person to contact. I will contact them and explain what we are doing.

Do you have any TSM 1 foliar product trials harvested as yet? We are anxious to see the results.

Received word just last week that we will be included in a micronutrient research project sponsored by the AAI (AgriBusiness Association of Iowa) through Iowa State University at Ames, Iowa this coming crop year. I was hoping that we would be included.

Did you know that if you give us the name of a new prospective fertilizer dealer and he comes on board with TSM® , we will reduce your cost to TSM® or pay you a finder's fee. You want to know something else? There is no limit to the number of names of fertilizer dealers you may give us. Any name you submit must be done with their approval. Make sure you submit good dealers. We want the best dealers possible.

Do you have any farmers that need financial help without having to give away the farm? Give us a call for the name of some good sources of help.
